Blue Angels Presentation Brings Empowering Message to Academy Students

Last Friday, the community gathered for a special presentation by Lieutenant Commander Amanda Lee, first female fighter jet pilot in the Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron (#4) and Aviation Maintenance Administrationman Petty Officer 2nd Class for the Navy Holly Phibbs.
Lieutenant Commander Lee emphasized throughout her speech, “be open to all opportunities.” She also discussed the value of teamwork and leadership. “A common goal can be achieved through multiple viewpoints,” Lieutenant Commander Lee shared. Both speakers also shared how they embraced changing direction and the positive impact it had on them.

Following the presentation, students had an opportunity to ask questions. Students inquired about what it is like flying and her training regime, what it means to be the first female fighter jet pilot in the Blue Angels, how does she handle stress, how does she like traveling around to various cities and flying in different shows and how she handled changing from her original career path.
