“I volunteered to be a host student because I wanted to put myself out there, and I thought this was the perfect way to dive in head first,” Vera shared.
During Luciana’s two weeks in Cleveland, Vera was able to not only show her the Academy, but also around Cleveland. “I tried my best to immerse her into my everyday life,” Vera shared. “The most memorable parts of our time together were when we would play in the snow. She had never made a snowman or snow angel and seeing the joy on her face was truly contagious. Additionally, taking her to her first Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game was amazing; she even met a player!”
Vera shared the following reflection on her hosting experience: “I want to share how grateful I am to have been a part of something as special as this. I have memories that will last a lifetime.”
