Junior Class Celebrates the Upperclass Induction/Ring Ceremony
On October 24, 152 members of the Class of 2026 celebrated the beloved tradition of formally becoming upperclasswomen in the Saint Joseph Academy community.
The ceremony began with the singing of the Alma Mater, followed by President Mrs. Kathryn Purcell sharing an opening welcome to students and parents/guardians of the Class of 2026. The Class of 2026 selected a faculty member to speak prior to receiving their rings. This year’s speaker was English Teacher Mr. Robert Polk.
Mr. Polk shared, “Today you are invited—today you are challenged—to be young women who see your role in this school differently. Your class’s story is actually part of a much wider narrative, one that involves all classes here now, not to mention all the other classes that have ever passed through our school.”
Class moderators Math Teacher Mrs. Shannon McVay '04 and Instructional Librarian and Nazareth Library Department Chair Mrs. Rebecca Synk P'22 & '25 read the names of each Junior who approached Principal Mr. Jeff Sutliff for a single red rose and President Mrs. Kathryn Purcell for her ring box.
