Maya Velez '26
Accomplishments: Maya is the co-editor of the Newspaper Club: Jaguar Beat.
As co-editor, Maya writes and edits articles, hosts club meetings and shares announcements in Google Classroom.
Maya joined the Jaguar Beat as a Freshman writing articles. As a Sophomore, Maya became the co-editor in addition to writing articles.
"My favorite part about being in the Jaguar Beat is writing articles about things that I do not know about,” Maya shared. “For example, having to write about sports that I am not in allows me to talk to new people, learn more about our school and connect with my peers.”
Activities and Interests: At Saint Joseph Academy, Maya is also a member of the Global Scholars Program, Model UN, Spanish Club and Crew.
Favorite part about being a member of the Saint Joseph Academy community: “My favorite part of being a member of the SJA community is the opportunities I have had,” Maya shared. “Whether it is being able to travel abroad, take AP® classes, or make new friends, Saint Joseph Academy has provided me with amazing ways to explore who I am and the world around me.”
