Accomplishments: Vannessa is the president of Jags for Justice. She has been a member of the club since freshman year.
Jags for Justice, formally known as CSPJ- Catholic Schools for Peace and Justice, focuses on social justice activities rooted in Catholic social teachings. The club partners with other schools’ justice clubs for service projects and activities such as attending the annual Respect for Life Mass. Jags for Justice also helps organize the Academy’s annual Christmas Boutique.
“I love being a part of Jags for Justice,” Vannessa shared. “It allows me to seek justice for important world issues while also living through my faith.”
Vannessa has engaged in speaking opportunities to share more about the club and the issues its members are passionate about. In September, Vannessa spoke to students at Our Lady of Angels about the club and during her freshman year, she spoke at St. Malachi Parish about mental health awareness.
Activities and Interests: At Saint Joseph Academy, Vannessa is also a member of the Asian Culture Club, an active Eucharistic Minister and will be a Leader at the upcoming Kairos retreat.
What is your favorite part about being a member of the Saint Joseph Academy community?: Vannessa shared her favorite part about being a member of the Saint Joseph Academy community is “the faith we share.” “As a new Catholic, I have been given the chance to explore and dwell in my own faith journey due to Saint Joseph Academy,” Vannessa shared. “I enjoy the traditions we have such as mass and prayer services, and I even try to pitch in help by reading, altar serving or ministering the Eucharist.”
Future Career Interests: Vannessa is interested in pursuing a career in Criminal Justice/Criminology.
